On Monday, Google announced the launch of its latest quantum computing chip, Willow, which has resolved a critical issue that has persisted for over 30 years—exponentially reducing errors—and has also achieved remarkable results in the Random Circuit Sampling (RCS) benchmark test. According to Google, it completed a calculation in less than 5 minutes that would take the world’s fastest supercomputer, Frontier, 100 billion billion billion years to perform.
