Hong Kong Stock Market: Major Positive Changes for Tech Companies

On August 23rd, the Securities and Futures Commission (SFC) of Hong Kong and the Stock Exchange of Hong Kong (SEHK), a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing Limited (HKEX), issued a joint announcement. They declared a reduction in the minimum market value threshold for listing specialized technology companies and revised the regulations for independent third-party investments in Special Purpose Acquisition Companies (SPACs) during SPAC merger and acquisition transactions. These revisions are scheduled to take effect on September 1, 2024.
